How do I get the battery out with just my fingers?
When I unlatch the battery, it only pops out about one-eights of an inch which is not enough to grab it with my fingers. How do I remove the battery without using a tweasers or needle-nose pliers?

I am having the problem with my new Contour GPS. I've had Contour HD for about a year with no such problem. I have tried all 6 spare batteries from the HD in my GPS and all have the same problem. The battery enclosure is too tight and prevents the battery from popping out far enough to get a finger-grip on it.

I just received my new Contour GPS and I am having the same trouble. I purchased an extra battery so that i could switch them on the slopes while snowboarding and today I was unable to get the first battery out because it was stuck. After messing with it this evening at home, it's clear that the enclosure is too tight and tools are required to remove the battery. Other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

i think that they made the enclosure smaller.. because with high vibration or very bumpy roads sometimes camera did not record. I experienced this problem with my contour hd. (I am a Motorcycle addict)

I just got my Contour GPS and I have the same problem. The little catch on the right side peels back the battery's black sticker and makes it stick. Is there someone that has a fix for this? The tape works great for the contour hd, but this doesn't have the same release mechanism.

I had the same problem with my GPS, I simply put a piece of tape over the battery where the catch is. Works great, Doesn't hang on the battery sticker anymore. Also did this to my spare battery. Low Tech works just fine here!

did you have to peel off all the black Contour Label first......cause that seems way too thick around the battery? Mine is also tight as hell ...I have to use an exacto knife to pry it up a bit...to get some room to get the needed room to use needle nose pliers onto the battery to remove it....not a good thing for battery or camera.....and not an easy task when we have to change out a battery during a Poker Run raising money for a child with cancer.

Bringing back up an older thread -- --
Having received my Plus yesterday -- I to noticed it's impossible to remove the Contour battery.
Contour - In manfacturing their battery uses a rather thick rubber material that encases their battery and therein lies the problem. It's the battery - It simply is to thick and rubs on the battery slot of the camera.
I have 2 aftermarket larger mAh batteries that work like a charm. Each slides in and out with absolutely no effort.
The Contour battery will be relegated as the last back-up battery because of it's difficulty using in this camera and it is the smallest mAh rating of the 3 I have. -
